Who Am I Exactly?

I am the queen of food allergies. I can't eat wheat, dairy, eggs, sugar, potatoes, tomatoes, peanuts, oranges or corn. I've never been big on cooking, but because of my circumstances, I'm learning to love it. I hope someday to help other people with food allergies so they don't feel as lost as I did when I discovered mine. I will be posting recipes, products and restaurants that I like and trust, as well as sharing my experiences as someone with food allergies. I hope my readers can take something valuable away from this blog!

You know my story with food, but there’s so much more to me than just my allergies.

Where do I begin? I’m young and spontaneous; I have a curiosity and desire to know the world and the people living in it. I have such a passion for life and having fun and an overwhelming willingness and desire to try new things. I don’t want to be hindered by my allergies. I’m discovering that following this diet has the power to set me free, and the more I learn, the more I realize that although these allergies are a curse, they are also a blessing. I can’t eat the foods that cause such problems for the human body. I am free, which fits my lifestyle perfectly.

I’m the definition of a college girl. I love to have fun. I love be around people. I am, by definition, an extrovert. I did a lot more roommate bonding and daytime dance parties than studying in college. I was somehow gifted with a mind that doesn’t need constant repetitive studying, which suits my lifestyle very well.
I majored in Broadcasting, which led me to intern at E!, only to find out that I want to take my life in a different direction. But I will end up on TV…it’s a natural talent I’ve been blessed with and I will find a way to use it.

I live for the summer, where I am free from obligations and can truly exercise my spontaneity, and the weather is nice all the time. I am terrified of extreme sports, but I’m willing to try them anyway if I have a good teacher. I’m not completely wild and crazy, but I don’t think a little danger here and there ever hurt anyone. At least not me…

I love fashion. Shopping is a huge vice for me, seeing as I have no money. I like getting dressed up, but I can’t do it all the time. I’m far from the high maintenance club girls you find walking down the street in Hollywood. I love nice things, but I don’t let them get the best of me. Most times, I’d rather wear a jersey and cut offs to some sports bar somewhere. Actually lets be honest, I would wear a jersey almost anywhere. They are, after all, my favorite article of clothing.

I’ve also been gifted with musical ability. My mom is big into music, and as a result, I’ve been into music my whole life. I sang my first solo (“Somewhere Out There” from Feivel Goes West) to my preschool class, and I started playing the guitar at age 7. I can read music and I did years of choir, even in college. Do not, however, assume I am an incredible musician. Practice makes perfect and I hardly ever practice. But it’s something I love to do, and I do it for myself. Which is almost better.

I am an animal lover. To the max. My parents will tell you, I have always been that way. Forget princesses, I loved any movie with animals. I thought I was a dog for a while there. While I’m not so extreme about it anymore, my love hasn’t wavered. I’m a sucker for puppies especially. I have two dogs at home, a Lab-Bassett mix named Chips and an ex-guide dog trainee named Gorman. They serve as a constant source of amusement for my family and I. My love doesn’t end with dogs and cats though, which is why I’m considering the whole vegan thing. But I won’t get into that, I’ve never been one to preach.
Life is too much fun to be wasted worrying about what we are going to eat. It really is. There is so much more out there. I plan to fully take advantage of every opportunity life throws at me. I hope I can not only inspire you to do the same, but teach you how.
